Dragon Threads, publisher of extraordinary textile arts books, has been selected to produce the catalog for Quilt National 2013, the 18th international juried competition for new innovative quilts. The catalog will feature large color photographs, plus statements from the judges.

Quilt National has built a reputation as one of the most competitive and compelling art quilt exhibitions in the world. Quilt National is a biennial international juried exhibition of contemporary innovative art quilts. The first Quilt National was shown in 1979. Since then it has grown to receive thousands of entries from around the world. Selected quilts from the competition will be on display May 24 – September 2, 2013 at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, Ohio. Over 7500 visitors come from around the globe to view this exhibition.

With a similar history, Dragon Threads has grown steadily over the last 19 years and enjoys a reputation for producing high quality quilt books. Having built its business on stunning imagery, a keen eye for the contemporary art quilt world and a process that results in the highest quality publications, Dragon Threads makes a strong partner for Quilt National.

Linda Teufel, owner of Dragon Threads, said, “I have been following Quilt National for years and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to publish the catalog for this prestigious competition. This is more of an event for us than just publishing a book.”

Dragon Threads has been publishing sewing and quilting books since 1984. In 2010 Dragon Threads received the prestigious Independent Book Publishers Association's Benjamin Franklin Gold Award™ for Crafts Books and the International Book Award in the Crafts/Hobbies/How-To category.
Attendance was similar to last year's show, however, our sales were approximately $1200.00 above last year's figures. A sampling of the SAQA auction quilts was displayed in the booth and many visitors were impressed and perhaps will place bids on the quilts in September. We sold 10 SAQA memberships and renewals. The SAQA traveling exhibitions, A Sense of Adventure and Masters 2 were on display. Beth Schillig took the lead in organizing this year's event and did a superb job in the set up, tear down and staffing of the booth along with the help of Jen Siegrist. She additionally spent the entire day after the show shipping booth items back to SAQA. Thank you so much Beth for making this a well run and successful show. In addition, we had so many SAQA Ohio members helping out this year in addition to Daren Redman, the Indiana rep, Nysha Nelson the Tenn/Ky rep, Desi Vaughn SAQA rep coordinator and her friend Kathie Briggs, both from Michigan. The venue gave samples of their dessert wines to a variety of local businesses and assigned them the task of creating the perfect dessert pairing for the wine. Customers will be taste testing and voting for their favorites. In addition to live music, Jancy will be there on the 17th to meet and greet art, dessert and wine aficionados.
